The disappointment of having the app discontinued motivated the founders to вЂњbuild something independent that can last for a very long time.вЂќ And disrupting an age-old software tool seemed like the perfect place to start. Reber swiftly offered to buy back Wunderlist to prevent the product being killed - even making his plea public on Twitter - but ultimately, he didnвЂ™t succeed. Not only that, but the acquisition by Microsoft ended painfully with the company shutting down the app in 2019. While Wunderlist was a product that had many passionate users, it was never profitable, says Reber. The team felt like they hadnвЂ™t really вЂњsucceeded at building a businessвЂќ with Wunderlist, and was keen to discuss ideas for a potential new venture. First Wunderlist, now PitchДЄt the latter end of 2017, Reber and his former cofounders got together for a reunion at his and PrevotвЂ™s house in Pankow, Berlin.

Now that the band is back together, he and a few of his less media-shy cofounders finally want to chat.

Six of them know each other from the days of working together at Wunderlist - a task management app founded by Reber, Prevot and Martin in 2010.ДЄfter the company was sold to Microsoft in 2015, the team went their separate ways - until Reber got in touch two years later. PitchвЂ™s cofounders are Jan Martin, Charlette Prevot (who is married to Reber), Vanessa Stock, Adam Renklint, Misha Karpenko, and brothers Marvin and Eric Labod.

Nothing changes for current Wunderlist users, according to Microsoft's announcement:Д¬ustomers can expect the app to remain free in all of its existing markets. The WSJ article indicated that the 6Wunderkinder team will remain located in Berlin under the terms of the deal.

He added that the company was planning to release Wunderlist apps for Android Lollipop and Windows 10 this year, as well as a new Wunderlist for Work product with business features, such as 'activity logs, business-owned lists, a central dashboard, rights management and custom webhooks.' It later snapped up Sunrise Atelier to integrate its calendar technology into Outlook mobile apps.Д¦Wunderkinder and Sunrise Atelier had announced an integration effort back in May, as noted by the WSJ article. Microsoft announced the purchase of Acompli earlier this year, using its technology to create Outlook e-mail apps that work across various mobile operating system platforms.
